Onceuponatime,inasmalltown,therewerethreebestfriendsnamedLily,Max,andTom.Theywereinthethirdgradeandlovedtoreadfairytales.Everyday,theywouldgatheratthetownlibrarytoreadanddiscusstheirfavoritestories.Oneday,theystumbleduponanoldbookthathadbeenhiddenawayinthebackofthelibrary.Itwasabookaboutamagicalworldthatwasonlyaccessiblethroughthepowerofimagination.Thethreefriendswereintriguedanddecidedtoexplorethisworldforthemselves.Lily,Max,andTomspenthoursreadingthebookandstudyingtheinstructionsonhowtoenterthemagicalworld.Theylearnedthattheyneededtoclosetheireyes,concentrateonaspecificimage,andthenlettheirimaginationtakeover.Theydecidedtotryitoutandclosedtheireyes,imaginingabigcastlewithadrawbridge.Suddenly,theyfeltajoltofelectricityrunningthroughtheirbodies,andwhentheyopenedtheireyesagain,theyfoundthemselvesstandinginfrontofamassivecastlewithadrawbridge.Theycouldn'tbelievetheireyesandimmediatelystartedexploring.

Insidethecastle,theyfoundmagicalcreatureslikeunicorns,talkingtrees,andgiantcaterpillars.Theyalsofoundthattheyhadspecialpowersinthisworldthattheydidn'thaveintherealworld.Lilycouldmakeflowersgrowwherevershewent,Maxcouldfly,andTomcouldtalktoanimals.Astheyexploredmore,theydiscoveredthattherewasanevilsorcererwhowastryingtotakeoverthemagicalworld.Theyknewtheyhadtostophimandstartedlookingforcluesonhowtodefeathim.Theirfirstclueledthemtoawiseoldowlwhotoldthemthatthesorcerer'sweaknesswashisfearoflaughter.Theyneededtomakehimlaughtodefeathim.Theysetofftofindthesorcerer'slair,butitwasheavilyguardedbyhisminions.Theyknewtheyhadtocomeupwithaplantogetpastthem.

Lilysuggestedusingherpowertomakeaflowergarden,distractingtheminionswhileMaxandTomsnuckpastthem.Itworked,andtheywereabletogettothesorcerer'slair.Insidethelair,theyfoundthesorcerersittingonhisthrone.Theytriedtellinghimjokes,buthewouldn'tlaugh.Theyknewtheyhadtotrysomethingelse.Maxrememberedasillydancethathislittlesisterusedtodothatalwaysmadehimlaugh.Hestarteddoingitinfrontofthesorcerer,andsoonLilyandTomjoinedin.Thesorcerercouldn'thelpbutlaugh,andashedid,helostallhispowers.Withthesorcererdefeated,thethreefriendswerehailedasheroesinthemagicalworld.Theyweregivenaspecialamuletthatwouldallowthemtoenterandexittheworldwhenevertheywanted.

Theyleftthemagicalworldfeelingproudofthemselvesandexcitedtotelltheirstorytotheirfamiliesandfriends.Whentheygotbacktotheirtown,theyrealizedthattheyhadbeengoneforhours,eventhoughitfeltlikeonlyafewminutesinthemagicalworld.Theyknewtheyhadtokeepthemagicalworldasecretandonlyshareitwitheachother.Thethreefriendscontinuedtovisitthemagicalworld,exploringnewplacesandhavingnewadventures.Theygrewcloserasfriendsandlearnedtoappreciatethepowerofimagination.Oneday,theydiscoveredanewareaofthemagicalworldthatwasindangerofbeingdestroyedbypollution.Theyknewtheyhadtodosomethingtosaveit.

Theytalkedtothemagicalcreaturesintheareaandlearnedthattheyneededtofindawaytocleanupthepollution.Theydecidedtousetheirpowerstomakeagiantrecyclingmachine.Ittookthemdaystobuildtherecyclingmachine,butwhentheywerefinished,itworkedperfectly.Theywereabletocleanupthepollutionandsavethemagicalcreatures.Theirheroicsdidn'tgounnoticed,andsoontheywereinvitedtoacelebrationintheirhonor.Themagicalcreaturesthrewabigpartyforthem,withlotsoffood,music,anddancing.Astheydancedthenightaway,Lily,Max,andTomrealizedthattheydidn'tneedtorelyonfairytalesforadventure.Theyhadeachotherandthepoweroftheirimagination.

Theymadeapromisetokeepexploringnewworldsandhavingnewadventurestogether,nomatterwheretheirimaginationtookthem.Yearslater,asadults,theystillrememberedtheirmagicaladventuresandcontinuedtoinspireeachothertodreambigandimagineevenbigger.Theirstorybecamealegendintheirtown,inspiringotherchildrentoembracetheirimaginationandgoontheirownadventures.Andso,themagicaladventureofthreethird-gradersbecameatimelesstaleoffriendship,bravery,andthepowerofimagination.
