A Fantastic Speech Contest

Aimed to enrich our campus life, the school English reading club launched an English Speech Contest, whose theme was Read for the Future.

As scheduled, the competition was held in the school hall, on March, 1st. Twelve students from three grades competed in this event. The judges were made up of school leaders and English teachers. The school hall was packed with 2,600 audience, who broke into thunderous applause once in a while. Much to our delight, this meaningful activity not only raised students' awareness of reading, but it also shaped our life value.

The event lasted more than one hour. Exhausted as we were, all the people were inspired obviously. Without doubt, it was an enormous success.

In order to arouse students’ interest in learning English and enrich our school life, our English club held an English speech contest themed Read for the Future last week. Hundreds of us took part in it.

As scheduled, students gathered at the assembly hall at 2 pm on Tuesday. After the hosts introduced the topic and judges, 15 competitors delivered their speeches in turn, which were well received by the audience. They were graded on the language, outline, as well as performance, and were awarded accordingly.

The activity benefited us a lot. Not only did it improve our English ability, but it also provided a great chance for us to show ourselves. What a wonderful time!
