Oneday,Isawhersittingaloneintheschoollibrary,readingabook.Imusteredupthecouragetogooverandintroducemyself.Tomysurprise,shewasfriendlyandwelcoming.Westartedtalkingaboutthebookshewasreadingandsoonfoundoutthatwehadalotincommon.Fromthatdayon,webecamegoodfriends.Wewouldhangoutduringlunchbreaksandafterschool,talkingabouteverythingfromourfavoritemusictoourdreamsforthefuture.Ifeltsoluckytohaveherasafriend.Astimewenton,myfeelingsforhergrewstronger.Icouldn'tstopthinkingaboutherandwantedtobemorethanjustfriends.ButIwastooscaredtotellherhowIfelt,afraidthatitwouldruinourfriendship.Oneday,sheinvitedmetoherhousetohangout.Wewatchedmovies,playedgames,andtalkedforhours.ItwasthenthatIknewIhadtotellherhowIfelt.Itookadeepbreathandconfessedmylovetoher.

Tomysurprise,shedidn'trejectme.Shesaidthatshehadfeelingsformetoo,butwasalsoscaredtotellme.Wehuggedeachothertightlyandfromthatmomenton,wewereacouple.Ourrelationshipwasamazing.Wewouldspendhourstalkingonthephone,writingloveletterstoeachother,andgoingonromanticdates.Itwasamagicaltimeinourlives,fullofloveandhappiness.However,therewerealsochallenges.Wewerebothstillyoungandinexperiencedwhenitcametorelationships.Wehadargumentsanddisagreements,butwealwaysmanagedtoworkthroughthem.Oneofthebiggestchallengeswefacedwaswhenshehadtomoveawaytoanothercitywithherfamily.Wewerebothheartbroken,butwepromisedtokeepintouchandmakeourlong-distancerelationshipwork.

Wewroteletterstoeachotheralmosteverydayandtalkedonthephonewheneverwecould.Wemadeplansforwhenwewouldseeeachotheragainanddreamedofafuturetogether.Finally,afterwhatseemedlikeaneternity,shecamebacktoourhometown.Wewerebothsoexcitedtoseeeachotheragainandspendtimetogether.Itwaslikenothinghadchanged,andwepickeduprightwhereweleftoff.Asweenteredourfinalyearofjuniorhighschool,weknewthatourtimetogetherwaslimited.Wewouldsoonbegoingourseparatewaystodifferenthighschools.Butweweredeterminedtomakethemostofourtimetogetherandcherisheverymoment.Wewentonmoredates,tookpicturestogether,andmadememoriesthatwouldlastalifetime.Wetalkedaboutourhopesanddreamsforthefutureandpromisedtostaytogethernomatterwhat.

Astheschoolyearcametoanend,wesaidgoodbyewithtearsinoureyes.Weknewthatitwouldbehardtomaintainourrelationshipinhighschool,butwewerebothwillingtotry.Thefirstyearofhighschoolwastough.Wewerebothadjustingtoanewenvironment,newfriends,andnewchallenges.Wedidn'thaveasmuchtimetotalkorseeeachother,butwestilllovedeachotherdeeply.Astimewenton,westartedtodriftapart.Wehaddifferentinterestsandpriorities,anditbecamehardertofindcommonground.Westilltalkedonthephoneandsaweachotheroccasionally,butitwasn'tthesameasbefore.Finally,oneday,shecalledmeandtoldmethatshehadmetsomeoneelse.Itwasapainfulmomentforme,butIknewthatIhadtolethergo.Wehadsharedsomanywonderfulmemoriestogether,butitwastimetomoveon.

Thenextfewyearsweretough.Istruggledtofindmyplaceinhighschoolandmakenewfriends.ButIneverforgotaboutherandthelovewehadshared.Yearslater,weranintoeachotheratacollegereunion.Wetalkedforhours,reminiscingaboutthepastandcatchinguponourlives.Itwasclearthatwehadbothmovedonandwerehappywithourcurrentpartners.Aswesaidgoodbye,Irealizedthatourrelationshiphadtaughtmesomuchaboutloveandfriendship.IthadhelpedmegrowasapersonandbecomethepersonIamtoday.Iwasgratefulforthetimewehadspenttogetherandthememorieswehadshared.Lookingbackonthosejuniorhighschoolyears,Iamfilledwithnostalgiaandfondmemories.Thattimeinmylifewasfullofnewexperiences,newfriendships,andnewfeelings.AndtheoneIlikedinfirstyearofjuniorhighwillalwaysholdaspecialplaceinmyheart.
