Inaworldwherehumansdominateandanimalsareoftenseenaspests,itiseasytooverlookthefactthateverylivingcreaturehasitsownstory.Thisisthestoryofamouse,whosurvivedagainstalloddsandfoundfriendshipinunexpectedplaces.Themousewasborninadarkcornerofanoldbarn,amongmanysiblings,eachfightingforitsshareoffoodandspace.Fromtheverybeginning,themouseknewthatitslifewouldbeoneofconstantstruggle.Asthemousegrewup,itlearnedtobequickandagile,alwaysonthelookoutfordanger.Italsolearnedtoberesourceful,usingitssharpsensestofindfoodandshelterinthemostunlikelyplaces.

However,despiteitsbestefforts,themousecouldnotavoidthemanydangersthatlurkedaroundeverycorner.Itsawitssiblingsbeingcaughtbycatsandbirds,orpoisonedbyhumans.Itlearnedtomournsilentlyfortheirloss,knowingthatitcouldbenext.Oneday,asthemousewassearchingforfoodinanearbyfield,itheardthesoundofatractorcomingcloser.Itscamperedawayasfastasitcould,butitwastoolate.Thetractor'swheelsrolledoverthemouse,crushingitshindlegsandleavingitunabletomove.Themouselaythereforhours,unabletodoanythingbutwaitforitsfatetocome.Itfeltthecoldwindblowingoveritsfur,andthepainslowlyspreadingthroughitsbody.Itwonderedifthiswastheend.However,justwhenthemousehadgivenupallhope,itheardasoftvoicecallingouttoit.Itlookedupandsawalittlegirl,whohadbeenplayingnearby.Thegirlhadseenthemousebeingrunoverandhadcometohelp.
